2012 Honda Brio Diesel

Honda Brio Diesel to Hit the Roads in Oct 2012

Putting an end to the elongated trouble Honda has been suffering due to lack of diesel options in their car segment, company has announced to release its Diesel version of Brio in the coming October.

While most of the companies are busy giving heavy discounts of their petrol offerings, Honda brio diesel has been launched to give relief to car users in the wake of growing petrol prices. However, consumers would still need to wait till Diwali to enjoy a cheaper ride on this new car.

As per a company source, “Honda was planning to launch the diesel version in 2013 initially. But the increase in petrol prices and demands for diesel cars has made the company to move ahead their release to Diwali this year. For speedy achievement of target we might go for third party arrangements. Meanwhile, our R&D department has already being asked to pace up with the work.”

However, Honda has confirmed not to launch cars in hurrying up modes; it will be resulting in compromise on reliability and might address falling sales.

The petrol prices are at their all-time high and their steady increase has pushed petrol cars sales down by 15% while at the same time diesel car sales has hiked to 35% in last financial year.

Honda has no Diesel variant in its array of cars which was becoming big drawback for the company. Honda Brio will become the first from Honda’s stable to introduce diesel engine; coming ahead of the release are Diesel versions of City and Jazz.

Marketing Official of Honda has said, “Company has already been giving huge discounts on the cars with regard to increasing petrol prices. But it was not becoming possible to go beyond a certain point.”

Honda Brio is one of the cheapest cars from Honda stable and amongst one of the low range hatchbacks in Indian automobile market. In lieu of that, Honda’s move to diesel is going to be an interesting and beneficial package in India where the company has first time launched a diesel offering.

For a company like Honda, launching a diesel car is more favorable option in the market like India. But Honda is not the only one to jump to Diesel market; Renault has also moved ahead its diesel model launch.

Where companies like Volkswagen and Renault are giving goodies with their petrol version cars, soon after the petrol price increase Hyundai announced its “petrol price lock assurance programme”. Under this programme, Hyundai has assured insulation to its customers from further petrol price rise in the coming seven months. The offer was only valid for Hyundai buyers of  i10, i20, Santro, Eon, Verna and Accent till 31 May.
