Looks like Apple decided to start looking at the lighter side of life; literally. The Apple iPad Air, the latest addition to the tablet market and weighing less than half a Kg, is by far the lightest iPad or rather the lightest tablet ever, period.
The decreased weight and the overall dimensions are expected to increase the portability of an already portable device quite substantially, and this should play quite nicely in the market. The Apple iPad air might even be good enough to give the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 a run for its money.
Despite its light weight physique the Apple iPad air is probably going to make a pretty substantial dent in your wallet (courtesy: Apple price tags). The Apple iPad Air Price in India has been announced and as expected they do add a little weight to the tablet. The WiFi only variant of the Tablet starts from Around Rs. 36,000 and the WiFi+3G variant starts from around Rs 45,000.
The Apple iPad Air Specifications are pretty decent although some (Read: certain fan boys) might complain them to be a step backward.
The Apple iPad Air features the all-new 1.3GHz dual core Apple A7 chip, the same one from the iPhone 5s, along with an M7 coprocessor, which is said to work wonders for the battery life and the speed of the device. Though some might complain a 1.3Ghz dual core chip isn’t really that big a deal, they might want to remember, that the A7 chip is a 64 bit processor not a 32 Bit one, ergo its very much a monumental deal.
“The camera is not really
a big point for the iPad air,
but then again it is a tablet. Using
a tablet for clicking pictures
is like using a gold brick
for a paper weight, it works
but not really what it’s for. ”
|The iPad Air also features a PowerVR G6430 graphic unit and 1 GB RAM. It comes in four variants in terms of internal storage, 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB and operates on the Apple iOS version 7.The Apple iPad Air features the legendary retina display which mean crystal clear images and gorgeous pictures. The tablet offers a 9.7 inch 1536x2048p IPS LCD capacitive touch screen with 264ppi pixel density protected behind a scratch resistant glass with an oleophobic coating. The camera is not really a big point for the iPad air, but then it’s a tablet.
Using a tablet for clicking pictures is like using a gold brick for a paper weight, it works but not really what it’s for.
The iPad Air is powered by a 32.4Wh battery which should give out at least 10 hours of use despite the retina display. But then again I guess the M7 coprocessor has something to do with that. The iPad Air features a 5MP iSight camera in the rear along with a 1.2 MP camera in the front. The front camera is pretty decent for Face Time and Skype.
The Apple iPad Air is a pretty nice device, but the question is, with the iPad mini in the market offering more portability will the bigger screen and lighter physique be enough to appeal to the customers? Only time will tell.
