Apple TV, the media streaming device from Apple is out with it’s 3rd Generation avatar. With Apple TV’s launch in India, the firm has finally bought all it’s products into the India market.
Apple TV 3rd Generation brings the long-overdue Full HD playback capabilty, although still lagging behind it’s feature rich competitors like WD Live HD and Asus’ O! Play Mini. The Apple TV Price in India is Rs. 8,295 at India itunes store launched recently. This Device is not be confused with the rumoured Apple’s full fledged TV, the Apple TV serves the only pupose of connecting with any existing Television with HDMI cable to play any multimedia content on internet or stored on icloud or on any iOS device via Airplay.
Apple TV now also supports Airplay Display mirroring, a feature meant to stream your iOS device screen to the bigger screen for surfing online, using any app or playing games. Via Apple TV user can also access content shared on the local network via iTunes Home Sharing.
Apple TV Price in India – Rs. 8,295
Apple TV Specifications include an apple A5 processor for Full HD playback, 8GB of cache memory for smoother playback of streamed media and 512 MB of Ram. Apple TV’s most distinct advantage which came as a surprise is that it literally talks to you. Just connect it up to your TV and a voice guides you to toggle the Voice Over. Apple TV features a total of 5 ports on the rear including an HDMI port which is the main audio/video output, an RJ-45 Ethernet port, an optical audio port, an obvious power port and finally an Micro-USB port which is kind of useless for home users. The Micro-USB port is only meant for Diagnostics purpose only.
The Apple TV 2013 also supports Wi-Fi and has an inbuilt Bluetooth 4.0+HS chip – which it makes no use of it currently, there may be a possibility of using it in future updates. The Apple TV remote still uses infrared to connect ( a Bluetooth one would have been better) but is still pretty handy and functional.
The Apple TV setup process is very easy and streamlined. If your are connecting it to your TV for the first time, the new generation Apple TV will voice guide you through the entire setup process ( if you have enabled the Voice Over system ) starting with selecting a language and then a WiFi Network of your choice.
Once the setup process is complete you will be welcomed by the utterly new main Apple TV interface. This time the menu style has a iOS like approach to it for simplification and easy further expansion through updates. The basic streaming functions are the same as the previous generations Apple TV’s. Everything just works perfectly as expected from an Apple Product. Purchasing any content and streaming it is handled flawlessly with the Apple ID. Navigating through the menus is fast and feels like a breeze, you genuinely start loving it.
Finally we would like to mention through this Apple TV Review that this product gets close to a must have gadget, but it’s more recommended for people who already own other Apple gadgets because it will just blend with them. But for everyone else, even if the Apple TV features a 1080p Full HD Support, it still doesn’t score over it’s other competitors available in the market (which are cheaper too).
