Brammo Empulse Review

Brammo launched the much anticipated electic sportsbike lately which comes with 6 speed transmission –something unimaginable in a single ratio electric motorcycle. Brammo claims that Empulse is world’s first electric motorcycle in production which features water cooling.

You might find the design inspiration of Empulse R from Ducati Monster with flaunting naked/standard chassis. Or you would find it quite similar to Kawasaki Versys where the upright seating position is designed in the same way.

Brammo Empulse R is a powerful 9.31kWH battery bike where Level I battery recharging takes 8 hours while Level II takes 3.5 hours. The battery can cover 56 highways and 121 cities, which is something in the same range limit but Brammo is thinking to include J1772 Level 2 capability on the bike which can bring the ‘speed’ changes.

Empulse R features six speed gearbox and Integrated Electric Transmission that includes Electric motor, gear shift and clutch. You can imagine the performance it can deliver with its 6 level acceleration line up which can speed up to 160kmph.

The six –speed transmission accompanies wet hydraulic clutch which allows regenerative braking and engine decelerating which is really handy for a true rider. One of the unique features is the inclusion of Liquid Cooled Permanent Magnet AC Motor of 40KW power which can accelerate at 8200 rpm and can boast 54HP.

Brammo Empulse offers two different riding modes – one for normal bikers and another for sports bikers. In the normal mode, the bike’s motor will deliver adequate riding range while in the sports mode, the motor will offer extended wheel sessions.

If you think its naked chassis might make it little light weight, then you are wrong. Brammo Empulse R weight 200 kg which is quite above the average range in comparison to other petrol bikes in competition.

The bike is designed with fully adjustable Marzocchi forks and Brembo Radial brakes positioned on custom 17 inch Marchesini Wheels. The Instrumentation panel of the bike operates in LCD Display placed just behind the headlight which shows speed, Tach, gear position, energy consumption, odometer, battery status, system status and estimated range.

Probably inclusion of all these high quality components has set its price tag at such a high range which is expectedly around Rs 10 Lakhs Brammo Empulse also offers two year battery and motor coverage warranty to its user.
