Microsoft acquires Xbox 8 domain name
Expanding its Marketing strategy, Microsoft is quite busy acquiring the domain names these days. Recent in the list is the next Xbox which will be called Xbox 8 or likely to be called Xbox Infinity.
On Tuesday the rumors lit up as the news about Microsoft receiving the rights of domain xbox.org and xbox8.us started doing the rounds. The company has mentioned that the latest Xbox speculations are related to Microsoft’s effort to gain acquisition to domain names for the upcoming Xbox 8.
The whole story started when Fusible.com noted that the two domains xbox8.org and xbox8.us, held by Chinese Cybersquatter, had been passed on to the Microsoft by National Arbitration Forum.
National Arbitration Forum, an International Domain disputes handling firm, has ruled out Cybersquatter in two different verdicts and has further turned on xboxlivetv.com, xboxphone.com, xboxcompanion.com and xboxtablet.com to Microsoft under this deal.
Microsoft had earlier in May this year, had filed a complaint against the Chinese National who has filed for acquiring the entire host of addresses belonging to the current Xbox products and those products sited for future release.
According to Fusible.com reports, the domains were handed over to Microsoft in June end as the Chinese National who filed for them was found ineligible to hold the rights of those domains and they were being used for illegal purposes.
With the news doing the rounds globally, lots of people around the world started speculating what actually Xbox8 might mean.
Initially it only appeared that the company is attaining the control over their home product but later on people started wondering whether its name of their new gaming and entertainment console name.
For most people, the new gaming console was supposed to be named Xbox 720 which was expected to be released with new Xbox SmartGlass System and Kinect Motion-recognition system.
With the new update, fans across the world have started speculating that inclusion of “Xbox8” has been because of Xbox 360 8th anniversary which is going to be in 2013 or due to number 8 representation which looks like infinity symbol and hence also named as Xbox Infinity.
Whatever may the reason be, One thing is certain that Microsoft is enjoying its free advance publicity of their yet to launch gaming device which isn’t technically out now.
